Why Should I Modify My Lifestyle?

Life is moving faster than ever. As the world becomes glocal, people are drawn to achieve more than ever. But what is the cost of this achievement? Health! For many this seems like a fairly small price to pay when accounted with immediate returns such as instant gratification. These momentary dopamine (Happy Brain Chemical) surges, which seem to occupy all the space in our minds, have huge repercussions in the long term. The lifestyle choices we are making daily have lead to the surge in many non communicable diseases (NCDs), also known as ‘Lifestyle Diseases’. Common lifestyle diseases are Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome, Heart Disease, Stroke, Obesity, High Blood Pressure, Chronic Lung Disease, Depression, Many Cancers, Cirrhosis, Nephritis, Back Pain, Headache and many more! Infact there are new diseases on rise because of lifestyle such as ear afflictions due to earphones, smartphone related issues, psychological problems, lifestyle realted infertility problems, Stress Disorders and Musculoskeletal Disorders!

Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) kill 4 Crore (40 million) people each year, equivalent to 70% of all deaths globally.

Each year, 15 million people die from a NCD between the ages of 30 and 69 years; over 80% of these “premature” deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries.

Cardiovascular diseases account for most NCD deaths, or 17.7 million people annually, followed by cancers (8.8 million), respiratory diseases (3.9million), and diabetes (1.6 million). These 4 groups of diseases account for over 80% of all premature NCD deaths.
